ABOUT

THE

AUTHOR

Sharyn was born in Gore, in New Zealand’s South Island, and grew up in the

1950s & 60s in Dunedin. She currently lives on Wellington’s south coast.

Radio New Zealand’s Colin Peacock says the title of Struggling to Fly might make the book sound like some political or feminist diatribe, but its certainly not. He describes it as a personal piece of social history and a snapshot of the hierarchical print media back in the 70s and 80s. This is his interview with Sharyn Steel, broadcast on July 19, 2009.
